yeah I think the basic rule is that anything that fits into the native screen resolution of 120 by 160 can be edited because you are edit pixels and to do anything larger would require the screen to pan sideways and up and down though why they did not include that I don't know.

standard (screen) resolution at 120*160 = 19200 pixels whereas max cam resolution is 288*352 = 101376
This means if you edit the max size on the screen you would only see 19% of the whole picture at any time which might be a little hard to keep the context of the whole picture in mind while editing that portion.
Much easier to send the pic to a pc for editing in that case.
