Apparently it's possible to fix "the hiss" now, so maybe all of the returned stock just goes for a quick fix and then gets re-sold as new. Maybe this is why alot of shops are practically giving them away?
I got mine about two weeks after release, and it hissed, but not that bad. I finally broke down and sent it in to Celestia to get fixed, and I also asked them to boost the speaker volume as I found it to be a bit weak... I'll have to wait to find out tomorrow if they did or not.

There are a couple posts a while back about people sending in their handsets, and they everyone that's done it seems to be VERY happy with the results. However, I don't think any of them actually asked Celestia to boost the volume at all. I'll post here when I get it back (should be tomorrow) and let you all know how it goes... It could be the best quick fix for this, instead of constantly exchanging them.

Nice phone, and when I compare it to the 6100 I had which is £30 less, seems a lot more phone. Usability, still have to give it to Nokia though.....

CPW Customer Services have said that Sony Ericsson won't confirm the version of the stock and they can't guarantee which version phone would be sent out as a replacement.

Thats more or less what they told me ... disappointing you have had 4 problem sets ... I can't see why they wont just check it before
sending ... it must be costing a fortune in courier fees...
If it was like mine w19 r2a then there was a faint hiss and the phone was not lound enough - either with ringtones or on calls.
I'm getting a replacement tomorrow - but I'm not hopeful at this stage that it will be w23+

I am waiting for my 2 T610's from CPW to be collected. I could go to the local T-Mobile shop and pick one up there. It will be sim-locked, branded and with the some alternative icons. But at least their stock is R3A 03W23 stock. I have the feeling all the CPW stock is re-worked!!! I am pee'd off with that. Their customer service is great nonetheless, but they have to deal with the stock some how.

I count myself as having pretty ok hearing but on the w19r2e I had for 2 hours (!) I just could not tolerate the lack of volume - its find in a completely quiet environment but if you try outside (quite likely - since it is a
mobile) I found it a real strain to hear the caller - certainly MUCH quieter than my t68i.
Generally speaking I can be hard to please but I think I was justified in returning this one (replacement was lost by courier and I gave up at that stage).
Now I intend to delay buying one untill someone can give me a cast iron guarantee that its w23+ and r3a+. Prob best to avoid online but thats where all the best deals are, bummer.
And since I really wanted a non branded upgrade on Vodafone its really only CPW that did them... I'm tempted to change network now - to orange perhaps - but I'll wait till I hear about the branding reports.
