In fact the T610 comes with a charged battery, you can use it for a while before charging, but as usual the first charging(s) should be quite long.

12-16 hours is incorrect for first charge...
here is my opinion on first charge.
jadler is correct though as my battery was about 80% charged when I got the phone so you should be able to give it a quick test at the shop

its not true, infact, you may use the unit to copy your phone nos. to multiple sims:
1. just goto phonebook (8);
2. goto advance (8);
3. copy from SIM(2) [if you want to copy] or,
4. copy all to SIM(4) [to copy all nos to your phone]
Flickering...
its natural... even the nokia series does flicker... its due to the uv wavelenght of the flourescent lamp... but i think its a nuissance... compared to the SE T100
Speed...
who sez its slow? i can bet it could whip the cord of a top notch nokia faster than all current newbie fone in the market... the speed factor is determined by the contents of your fone... if you store much memories (themes,pictures,ringtones,nos) it'll definitely slowdown a bit as all fone does
Hissing....
bearable... event the p800 does hiss under vacum condition... plus the wear factor if you strain your speaker on too much volume and too much playing of the tones... but it would take atleast a year before it deteriorates.... by then you may already have a new phone in hand...
Charging....
6-8 hours initial, just to fully charge it, but it is recommended that you dont overcharge it... about 2 to recharge... and one good thing about Li-polymer.. you don't need to fully drain it to recharge... you may charge it as needed :)

*if you have doubt on purchasing the unit better buy one at the authorized dealer, coz they could help you decide on its advantages and comparability with other brands... plus warranty is one great edge you have on those cheap products... on an open market they may cost less, but mind you, it would be more expensive when the bills on repairs comes... but if you're someone who likes to be on the edge like me... go ahead take the risk :)
