Just called the service centre and they said if I wanted the phone back by the end of the day, I would have to take it in before lunch, so it takes about 5 hours ?? Apparently

more than likely that is their backlog, it should take just over an hour to actually flash the phone, maybe they have given extra time in case it doesnt work first time.

Same old f*****g problem with CPW. They will upgrade Orange P800's at some service centres and not others.

Richmond, Newcastle, London, Glasgow seem OK, but the one in Aberdeen refuses to do it.

Scary stuff ......

What difference does it make if it's on Orange? I bought mine second-hand, when I turned it on, it came up with the Orange startup-screen, but that has now disappeared since I did a 'format internal disk' on it, and the phone is now unlocked and used on Vodafone.

Hi guys,

After spending most of the afternoon on the phone to CPW, Orange, SE and various service centres, I have ascertained the following -

1 - Orange P800's were shipped with software to configure them to the Orange network. Nothing special, just some extra settings.

2 - Orange will NOT be issuing a firmare upgrade specific to Orange.

3 - Orange have not yet approved the standard SE firmware upgrade, and no-one knows when / if they will.

4 - It depends which service centre you use for the upgrade. Some will do it no problem, some say that they can't do it because Orange have not released the software. They are not going to .....

5 - Some people have had the normal upgrade installed and it's OK. All you have to do is put back in all the Orange network specific settings (internet / GPRS etc).

6 - I called a company called "Fone Logistics" in Cramlington. They will upgrade Orange P800's free (in the warranty period) and return the phone to you. All you do is pay the postage to get it there.

Address -

Fone Logistics
34 Moorland Way
Cramlington Northumberland NE23 1WE
Tel: (01670 717717)

Cheers

Keith
