I think Reqwireless EmailViewer could solve your problem:

They claim its compatible with SE T610...

I only tried their WWW browser, worked very well!

I tested Reqwireless EmailViewer on my T610 and was able to
logon to the email server used imap (port 143)
But you have to pay to use that program.
hmm... but all talk about java only being able to use http must have
been wrong huh? Since in this java program you can use port 25
and 143 atleast... *ponders*
Perhaps someone good with java could make a basic mail client
which can handle attachements also.
