Dell Latitude
Win 2K Pro
Irda on Virtual com port
MS Outlook
XTNDConnect lite
t39

Synchronization of calendar and address book with outlook works good, except for some rare occasions when I have synchronized outlook with the exchange server when there may become duplicate entries in the address book.

HSCSD modem works good too through the IR channel, since the telephone company only offers 9.6 kbps/time slot and the phone only user 2 slots, it will always connect at 19.2kbps. (Other operators provide 14.4kbps/slot and other brands of telephones, like Nokia for example, offer phones that use up to 4 slots. )

I have also tried to read my mail using the mail client in the phone, and it works, but it's very slow. If there is a normal amount of new emails in the inbox, it generally takes too long time to download the messages.

Windows 98
ChipIr

My connection doesn't work at all.
It found my phone once, and I managed to send a pic.
But that's it.
Sometimes I get a connection for about 3 seconds, but then the connection is lost.. so I can't really use it at all.

Gateway Solo 2550
Windows XP
T68
USing built in IrDA

Ultimately, i got it working after fighting with IrDA drivers for like 3-4 hours.. (duuuh, forgot to "enable" the COM port in BIOS)

the software i downloaded off sonyericsson's site AND sendfile both don't do jack squat until i close XP's automatic pop-up "transfer files to IR device".. once i close this, everything works flawlesslessly....

perhaps there is a process of the automatic transfer that is hung up in the background??

A theme is developing here. The problem appears to be Windows XP. This was confirmed by Ericsson (see their reply to my email a few posts above).

Strange that XP works fine with GPRS internet over IRDA but not Outlook synch.

I think that the problem really is with XTNDConnect that is not compatible with Windows XP. Many times Windows and Microsoft get the blame when things don't work as expected on the pc, and in many cases that may be a correct accusation, but in equally many cases it's not. Instead, it's 3rd party software that is not made entirely according to the specifications that cause the problems.

Using:
Win2000
Outlook 2000
Actisys IrDa

I get a "Can't find phone" message even with speed @ 9600 (though it's within range according to the IrDa icon)

My method to get it work is kinda brutal... I open the task manager and terminate "Epmwor~1.exe" (sometime "DbgOut.exe" too...) in the processes list (they are launch with outlook), then I launch the sync again and then it works like a charm.

Probably not the finest way to make it work but it's the only way so far I found to get my calendar updated!

It's not SE you should contact. It's better to contact Extended Systems which supplies the XTNDConnect software.

It's there software that's not working, not SE.
