lectrosoul: 100 % RIGHT ! One shouldn't expect such scratches after NORMAL use for a product of this price !

The stupid thing is that all the internet forums scream "GET A SCREEN PROTECTOR" and SE says nothing about it. It would be a lot easier if they mention something about this in their manual and provide a couple of protectors in the package. This way they get a lot of unsatisfied and frustrated customers owning an otherwise (almost) perfect piece of equipment !

If I get a screen replacement I'm gonna get my protectors ASAP !

Ive actually been using a screen protecter since the first day on having my P800 because this is my 2nd P800, my first one was returned under an "Early Life Failure" so I swapped over my Brando. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that my screen is 100% scratch free under my Brando.

On the other hand, I think the scratches on the screen are not all the screen's fault, it's party the stylus'. It think the styli should've come with a small rubber tip, similar to Palms. I think it would make it a lot harder to scratch the screen with rubber as oppsed to hard plastic. I am actually a Sterling Silver Stylus (check with aZooZa if you want one) and I have found the perfectly rounded tip, although a lot harder, to be smoother of the screen that the original plastic ones.

I've had mine since the day they were released in the UK. Never used a screen protector no sign of any scratches.

I have looked at a used and some new styluses under close magnification and found out that unused ones have sharp edges/rims around them from the moulding process. This goes right over the tip as well. Furthermore, the plastic is very hard (compared to styli from other brands) and I can imagine that the combination of these two causes quite some initial scratches !

When looking at an used stylus you can clearly see that the point is flattened from usage like on the tip of a soft pencil (maybe exacerbated by the scratches on the screen, which at some places almost feels like fine sandpaper). Since you tend to use the stylus in more or less the same position all the time (as opposed to a "normal" IPaq or Palm-like round stylus) this worsenes over time. This flattened spot causes sharp edges arond that area, which can cause new scratches, etcetera....

I really feel that SE knows (or at least should know) about these problems and should be professional enough to do something about the problem. I can imagine that these sort of problems will always arise when manufacturers release products which are new to them.

Early adopters....

Not only is my screen scratched but so is my casing. I have dropped it a few times and I an really annoyed it it not. I only came across Brando products after the event. Surely, SE should display a link to the site so we know about it before or staight after we purchase the phone.

I have never read in a pda manual to get a screen protector as well but it is just common sense!

I got a screen protector before I turned it on for the very first time!

Do the same!!

Oh and buy the way replacing it is not very expensive. Because the screen and the touchscreen are two different parts! you are not buying a whole new screen!
