The call list would in a way that the last number you dialled out will always on top of the list, even if you received call afterwards !

Everyone seems to be gripping and moaning about things that can be changed by software updates. These are all important suggestions but the most important problem to fix should be the screen. If you can’t even use it in the sun all other problems seem insignificant.

Is there no covering /spray /sticker we can place over the screen to reflect the sunlight and hence make the screen visible in the day? Other electronic devices must have come across this problem before and solved it?

I fully agree with all the griefs here +

a) The status screen should specify battery remaining stand-by and talking time.

b) The phone should have leds for network, bluetooth, etc...

c) Power switch shoud be bigger

Making such a list is wonderful,
But we should not list stuff thats need hardware change.. Cause then its a new phone.. And will never see it in our beloved T610.

Suggesting software changes is the way to go, cause then the SE developers can add and change stuff..

My suggestions, and including the suggestions above related to software. .

1) Image editor for images larger than screen!! Resizing, Croping, Canvas size changes..
2) Socket support, cause I really want to make a MSN client!!!

--- For you SE devs!! ---
I once posted that SE dev are here in the forums.. well..
I am wondering if they really care.. !?!?
Be the first company that reads user suggestions and actually implementing them!! Wow image a software with all the suggestions above.. That would really be appreciated and SE devs would be known for their help, and their customer care..

Also by cooperating with us, se phone users, would help SE dev alot, don't just sit there and think you know better.. Be instead a part of this!!!

I dont have a T610, but i have a T68i, which behaves similarly, and have played around with my friends T610. here is my response to some of yr questions.

> 1 Easily marked plastic case - this looks cool to begin with, but soon get fed up wiping the fingerprints (and earprints !) off.

TOTALLY agree! I have the same prob with my T300

> 4 Volume buttons bring up useless phone status dialog, rather than volume control - and also is used as a menu control even in 'play sounds' menu, where you'd really want it to do a 'ring tone' volume control

Disagree or agree.. this is the way its been done since the early Ericcssons (T28 era).

> 6 Theres an annoying initial, electronic ring before the polyphonic ring starts

Very good reason for this. SOme "user downloaded" MIDI ringtones have a coudple of seconds "pause" at the start of the MIDI. Often when u add up the pause/taps/intro together. u could get up to 5 or 6 seconds, before the "real ring" sounds. Not a good thing. SO SE decided to play the "electronic ring" first, so that the user woudl know the phone is ringing. The T300 does that too. ANd its only when u are on a P800 without that feature, and some dodgy MIDI files, u miss it. (And if anyone points out about editing the MIDI file to take out pauses, trust me, its a topic thats beyond the reach of most users!)

> 8 Can't turn off increasing ring, all rings start quite and get louder.

As pointed out, this is a feature.. but noone pointed out WHY. teh T610 like the T300 uses the earphone as the poly ringer (most other phones have a seperate speaker at the back. If anyone has their phone to their "ear" whilst a call comes it... bye bye ears. So this was a protection from beaing sued Not that far fetched considering some lady sues McDonalds for HOT COFFEE!

> 11 The call list is confusing, including incoming, outgoing, and missed calls - the indicators should be clearer

ermmm... green = dial red = missed blue = recieved. cant get mroe clearer than that!

> 13 When phone is suspended, the first key press just unsuspends the phone, and is ignored - ie you cant just start dialing if the phone is off - this should be an option.

Again a feature brought in because the other way caused more problems. i mean think about it, the screen is off, u dont know what you were doing the last thing u want is to press teh wrong key for the situation. its just like the screen saver on your computer..

> 17 what order are calls in the call list in ?? Seems to be alternating incoming/outgoing? They are not strictly in time order in anycase.

they are effectively in Time order expect for the followign exceptions:
:the top of the list will ALWAYS be the last call made, even if calls are recieved since. If a call from a number is made to or from a person already on the list, the ealier record is moved up.

> 20 Entire menu structure should be configurable in themes, with special key sequence as master reset to protect against dodgy themes that leave you with no menu. Same with the desktop/icons etc. Ideally of course all phone functions are provided by an API called from java modules which constitute the UI.

hmmm good point regarding the keypresses, Ericsson phoens already have a sequence to reset accidental language selection.

@ caff

thats what happens anyway!

And it needs changes!! When they removed the battery status, the buttons are not useful anymore.. I have never pressed them.. Except in calls when I can change volume. .I TOTALLY agree with jackpipe

Well.. How come there are so many user complaining about this..
And most users actually downloads midis optimised and cut for use in ringingtone.. The phone ringingtone isn't made for 5 minutes midi song with an al bundy tune.. The ringing tone is made for max 10-30 secs music.. All my ringing tones I download are without that annoying pause/delay.. And this should also be an option. .NOT a feature that can't be turned off..
Sound options:
Annoying eloctronic beep / on / off
Increasing poly / on / off

Wow.. this is really advanced too do..

I would like to have a poll with the question "Do you have you phone to your ear when you are not talking on the phone?" / yes / no
Yes it can happen by misstake.. !! I dont know how. .but it can happen... every thing is possible... Other brands don't care. .or at least gives the choice..

And yes again an annoying feature, and no.. never had that problem..
And I don't se the similarity with the screensaver of the computer. .

IF the screen goes of and you don't have a have keylock.. and you accedently had the phone on the menu "Master reset" and it was accedently pushed so it ask if you really want to make a master reset. .and accedently the first button you touch is the yes button.. ok then you are in real trouble ..

When having the keylock this is annoying. .having to press an extra buttons. .even when you know the combination for unlocking. and don't need to see the screen telling you which buttons.. This screen should only come if you push the wrong button...

They could have this feature only if the keylock isn't on.. That way everyone is happy!

janahan - some good input, thanks.

Some of the design choices make more sense now, but I still dont agree with them - this phone has anough oomph to do a better job - and provide options to the user.

>> 4 Volume buttons bring up useless phone status dialog
>Disagree or agree.. this is the way its been done since the early Ericcssons (T28 era).
Well, time for a change, I think. Why do *both* buttons bring up the dialog - what a waste. Should be configurable.

>> 6 Theres an annoying initial, electronic ring before the polyphonic ring
>...Not a good thing. SO SE decided to play the "electronic ring" first, ...
This should be an option - and the ring should be a short beep. I wont go so far as to suggest the midi should 'scanned' to detect inital delays - though that wouldn't be so hard.

>> 8 Can't turn off increasing ring, all rings start quite and get louder.
> If anyone has their phone to their "ear" whilst a call comes it... bye bye ears.
Incoming call alerts during calls, etc, on other phones are just short 'inband' beeps - not full rings. Berts suggestion seems good for selecting ring startup types.

>> 11 The call list is confusing, including incoming, outgoing, and missed calls - the indicators should be clearer
> ermmm... green = dial red = missed blue = recieved. cant get mroe clearer than that!
Blue and green ? And tiny little arrows ? Which way is incoming, and which outgoing ? The icons could be larger, they could be a lot more meaningful, and personally, the shades of blue and green are not that distinguishable.

>> 13 When phone is suspended, the first key press just unsuspends the phone, and is ignored
> the screen is off, u dont know what you were doing the last thing u want is to press teh wrong key for the situation.
Depends what you're used to - if you do know what you want, it's annoying to have to press the extra button. It should be an option.

>> 17 what order are calls in the call list in ??
>Time order expect for the followign exceptions:
The exceptions seem arbitrary to me - and 'time order' quickly loses any meaning if you start deviating from actual time order.

Your point about the ringer using the same speaker as for calls (I'd assumed wav output went to a quiet call speaker, and tone generator to a louder ringer speaker), makes me wonder why there's no speakerphone, and no ability to use a recorded sound as a ringtone, rather than just wishing there was. Or have I missed a menu options somewhere?

ruff rider:
> Be able to remain connected to GPRS after leaving the browser (as in T68i).
Nice point. Maybe the 'Allow WAP push' allows this ? In any case one huge promise of GPRS is to allow always connected apps that could receive notification from servers.

Novell:
> When you plug in the handsfree, the phone itself doesn't ring, only via the earphone.
What a cracker ! Agreed - I'm sure it makes sense with car hands-free, but not personal - should ring both, or have an option.

VT:
Agreed - The #1 absolute killer problem with this phone is the lack of a translflective screen, so you can't use it in sunlight, and barely outside. Unfortunately this can't be easily fixed by firmware - though SE need to understand the seriousness of this problem for future phones.

with regards to the phone in sunlight, does anyone know how to change the outdoor profile so that the contrast is brighter, only in the outdooe setting, not the normal profile? I cant seem to change it for a specific profile ie. it doesnt save the settings.

thanx

Why do you want to be able to be online to GPRS after leaving the browser?
If you write a java application that is to use GPRS (through for example http) then that application would be able to keep the GPRS-connection open during the time it is running, shouldn't that be enough?

I agree that a huge thing that is missing is socket support for java, and i really hope that SE will provide us with this support in later firmwareupdates.
