So ..youre saying that the BT static is replaced by the interminttent comm problem between headset and phone ?

YUKKK !!!

in your opinion, is the improvement on the BT static enough ?

I am rethinking of reflashing mine ..

Retrospek I would never accept what they did to you
I would bring proof of purchase of the sim free phone
to another service point and explain what happened to
you and tell them to put in the non voda version of the
latest software.
This thread should be marked as very important or something
so it wont happen to other ppl aswell they must have a
f**ked up system to upgrade the phones if even simfree
phones get the voda icons just because you happen to have
a voda sim in the phone.

Apparently, they cannot remove the Vodafone Live stuff because they don't have a later firmware version (and they say they can't install a previous version). Hopefully, when the next version of the firmware is available they will be able to remove this junk.

Does anyone know if it is only the Vodafone Firmware that does this. If for example I were to have the Orange Firmware applied to my phone next time would I get any Orange crap or would the phone revert to the standard.

I'm still fuming about what they have done - and the total lack of concern that they have made my Sim Free phone appear like a Vodafone contract phone ! I spent over 1 hour in the CPW shop yesterday asking them what they were going to do about it - and demanding a replacement phone and they wouldn't budge ! Even CPW Head Office couldn't see the problem

I've sent an email today to the CPW CEO office and also to SE asking for help.

I'm hoping if I give this enough publicity they will eventually admit they have made a mistake and do something to fix the situation.

Does anyone know any good websites (or magazines) that I could contact to see if they will help raise the publicity of this ?? I was thinking of sites like 'The Register' and 'What Mobile' etc.

I think the CPW shop (Cribbs Causeway in Bristol) is hoping I will just accept what they have done - unfortunately this just won't happen.

So please everyone be very careful when you go to CPW for a firmware upgrade on your T610.

Thanks for everyones support..

Mark

Hmm, but they could install the R1L SE version!? right!?
cause its not a previous firmware..

And downgrade should be possible.. I dont se why it wont go. .

BTW: I would go into the store, and stay ther from morning to closing time.. until they either change the phone or flash the phone to SE firmware!! I would really stay there all day.. and if they don't do it. .I would stay there the next day too.. AND all the time talk to them!! and sound angry cause that would make other customers uncertain and uncomfortable.. And also find out where ther are cheaper phone ans tell customer that are gonna buy a phone that there is one cheaper in another store!!!

PS: I work in a mobilephonestore.. and if we did somehting like this. .We would change the phone for you immidiatly!!!

Good luck MARK

My opinion is that it would be an engineer error. t610's are flashed using EMMA II online flashing. It will not let you downgrade firmware. But it does give you a list of software variants to choose from. I think the engineer has picked the wrong one! he should be able to reflash the unit with the correct variant.

Failing that for a 12 pound log you can reflash the phone your self back to generic version. very easy and very safe!

@Zacay
Do you guys even have express repair stores????

I've just been screwed the same way. Wish I'd read this topic first ...

Afterwards I double-checked EMMAII with the repairman and there were no alternatives to the Vodafone crap. Seems SE needs to release a non-Vodafone language pack first. I spoke to an SE representative on the phone, and at least they know about the problem now.

The guy at the service centre also told me they were expecting a non-branded version in about 10 days time. He also told me he would not object to reflashing my handset with an unbranded version, so I'll guess I'll have to live with those ugly icons and annoying Live! button for a week or so.

I know its bloody annoying but one thing you may consider is flashing the phone yourself with unbranded firmware. I know this means having to pay out for some other idiots mistake but I had two Vodafone Live branded T610 which were driving me insane. I purchased a T28 cable (www.dvds2000.com) and software logs (firmware) from www.sonyericssonserver.com and got rid of 99% of the vodafone stuff (i can't get rid of the predefined items like pictures but the 13 sec trick is supposed to get rid of those although I've not bothered as they don't really annoy me that much). My icons are as SE intended and the soft keys taking me to Vodacrap Live are gone. Well worth doing. The firmware post on the Sonyericssonserver site shoulf have the R1L formware in a few days time as I emailed them to ask yesterday (20/07/03)

Hope this helps
