Yeah its too big to use as a phone but not as a PDA.
And I agree with what you say about the fact the p800 pda functions are enough for the light to medium user. If you want the extra functionality then get a dedicated pda.

For size comparison
The P800 is 117 x 59 x 27 mm
and ipaq 3970 is 135 x 84 x 15 mm
so yeah the ipaq is marginally bigger although thinner, but put them side by side (as I did) and you can hardly notice it. What stood out to me was the thickness of the P800.
I don't use the ipaq as a phone but I don't see that little extra size would make the difference, compared to the P800, as to whether I would use it to make calls or not.
Actually thinking back it was the size of the P800 that was always the sticking point for me, although the ipaq is larger, until I started to rationalise functionality and how I used them both.
I do put my ipaq in my pc bag and pull it out as I need it. I never did that with the P800 for fear of missing calls as I fumbled for it when it rang and I was never happy with it on my belt clip whereas I have the T610 sitting there quite nicely out of the way until needed.

Its what you really want it for.
The P800 is a pda, not as good as the ipaq, however the P800 pda functions are all what I need! Therefore it is the best choice for me, the Ipaq is better pda, but I will never use those functions.
I think the ipaq is too big also!
My sentiments exactly.
However, my final decision was based on the fact that to get a decent PDA with

(e.g. Dell Axim 5), and keep running a

phone on a contract, it was just too expensive - not that the P800 was cheap on contract either.
(Strangley, on Vodafone in the UK, it's ca. £120 pounds cheaper to buy the handset on a new contract rather than upgrade an existing one?!)
