go to

messaging -> area info -> reception -> off

and

messaging -> area info -> cell information -> off

the latter is the important one to turn off

It could be your sim card showing the new name and the operator forcing the old name to show, what firmware are you on? This message was posted from a T68i

@jamesward, those 2 things are already off, but when I turn on the cell information the "VODAFONE" is changed to my city's name.

@exodus, I'm on the oldest firmware R1A.
