I think the battery life is very good. I have had no problems with this one. (on my third by the way),
I just left the phone charging all night and started using it.

12-16 hours the guy in phones 4 you told me when i bought mine, just to make sure that all the cells in the battery are fully activated. I bought mine on sunday charged it all night for 12ish hours, it lasted untill wednesday afternoon!! with an hours worth of calls, a lot of pissing about with bluetooth & golf game camera etc...
a lot better than my mates new nec flip phone on 3 tarrif, he gets 1 days use full stop.

weird, i thought the batery would last as long as my former t68i did. i have to recharge every 2 days...my t68i needed to recharge ever 4 days

I charged mine all night when I got mine and it has lasted for 48 hours. Not too bad but my nokia 3510 has the best battery.

If I remember correctly, Li-Ion (Polymer) batteries are no longer supplied 'empty'.
This is because should the charge get interrupted, the battery capacity stops at that point - so you will never get the battery to its full capacity.
So, the phone companies prime the batteries by charging them.
Also, Li-Ion batteries store best when they are at around 40% charge, as this causes the least amount of drain, and internal damage. (Li-Ion batteries are basically corroding inside all the time - they are literally on a death-clock)
That's why you'll find the batteries with some charge in them already.
The initial charge should be for as long as possible, although 4 hours should be sufficient, as this is when the battery trickle-charges, reaching maximum capacity.
After that, they can be charged at any time.
However, it is bad for the batteries to remove them from the charger before they have finished charging.
It is also recommended (by some people) that Li-Ion batteries be discharged fully once in a while, as this may help to keep up a maximum capacity.
NB: The above is gathered from personally reading many user guides, instructions, and white papers on Li-Ion technologies. There are loads of Internet sites, but you'll find many contradict each other. It was all for a Uni-project... god it was dull

thanks that was very interesting. i put mine on to charge initially, but had the phone turned on and was using it for 30 mins or so. left it for 4 hours, but the battery life is not quite what i expected.
looks like i may have stuffed up the initial charge:(
are you sure that the battery 'remembers' where its initial charge was stopped? they should make this more clear in the manual!

So you should be able to get a good life no matter how you first charged it (assuming the above is correct).
Apparently, you can renew old Li-Ion batteries by deep cycling them. This is where you charge fully (overnight?), then use until the battery is empty.
For the first couple of charges, I let my phone charge overnight, and then I let the phone run out of battery (3-4 days) - until it switched off. Then I charged it fully again.
You may want to try this (a few times?), but not sure if it really makes much difference.
Depends on your reception (low reception takes more battery), and how much you use the phone... Playing around for a couple hours each day, and the phone lasted 2 days. (Screen zaps the battery!)
With around 10 mins/day calls, and no 'playing', phone lasted me 5 days! (On all night too!)

Try this:
1. Fully charge the battery
2. Take out the SIM card (optional won't have too much effect on standby time)
3. Put the phone on the table and don't touch it.
... Se how long stanby you will have then...

As far as the battery conditioning is concerned.....don't. Li-Po batteries are not supposed to be either completely drained or overcharged. As a matter of fact, your phone will prevent either of those from happening. So, simply charge your phone whenever it's convinient. Obviously the more you use your phone the faster it will use the battery.
