Yes SE released the cam api, that is probably why the camcord/vidcam is in beta stage now.

Ok, but this CamCoder is a third party software, right? Or are this beta versions made available by SE?

Philipes is making it, so yeah it's third party software. And I don't think Philipes will "give" it to SE so SE can give it to us. It will probably be an expensive app.

I wasn't expecting SE to make this kind of software available in a firmware upgrade, but who knows?

So, if someone is making SE's work, it's fair to make it's profit.
But if SE would do it, it would make their customers more satisfied. And satisfied customers mean more customers, because the best publicity is the publicity that we all do, if we're pleased with our phones. That's Nokia's secret. They care about their clients, much more.
Anyway, i haven't installed it yet because it's suposed to have R2D, and i haven't upgraded my P800 yet.

I don't think that many people have a real use for this program, I think people just wanted it to be proved that the P800 could record video. It was maybe the only thing that people had to say that Nokia can and SE can't. I'm just glad it's been done. I will still be looking out for the ETI Camcorder Lite/Pro for P800 and the final version of CamCoder for P800 (whether it be a stand alone app or included in the next firmware) but the thrill has gone out of it a little.
