I had the exact same problem, all my contact disappeared from the phone memory twice in a matter of days, yet whilst there was no contacts stored anywhere (not even on the sim) The names were still present on all sms's and also in the call list and speed dials. (Confused the hell out of me). I ahve since made a backup copy of every cintact on the sim, so If the phone memory does wipe the numbers, I just copy them back over to the phone memory.

I send my contacts as an email just in case, you can send as separate folders then. If an unwanted erase/delete occurs you just email back to your phone, from your inbox, which prompts you to store
