The reason is that because the T610 has only one speaker for both rings and listening, people could suffer ear-damage. If they hold the phone to their ear and it suddenly rings (at maximum volume), all the sound would be directed directly into the ear => not good (for then people would begin seuing SE

Thus they have made it so that you first receive a warning signal by means of beeping (cannot be switched off, the vibrating function is optional).

Normally ppl won't put their phone to his/her ear unless he/she is on the line. The next incoming line alert will not be as normal if you are on the line. You will only hear tone like call waiting from the speaker.

Another possiblity maybe he/she is listening to the voice recording but should be very rare.

is doing smth. wrong. When you dial a number and it is busy, it ask you to dial again... I pressed OK and put the phone to my ear. And then there was a LOUD polyphonic sound which just blasted into my ear. How is that normal???

It's stated in the manual that it does so when redailing, they warn you not to place the phone to your ears.

@ spider 2: Sony-Ericsson is just covering their ass, since people have went to court for less. If they would just make it adjustable (on or of) people would have no problem whatsoever with it.

@dietbrand, how many people actually bother to read the manual, and i think(im sure) the warning would have come too late ( why the warning in the 1st place?? )

**Note to : Pls do something about this.**

I hope a lot of people do, such a waste of trees otherwise

I never quite understood why people don't read manuals. It can only save you time and hassle. And reduce the risk of screwing up your expensive hardware because of some stupid mistake.
And after all what else are you going to do while the phone charges

Ah well, in the end we'll always have the maxxum "RTFM"
