No, its definitly a dial up wap account so there is no APN. It dials the number +447836900808 (for vodafone wap).
I have just rechecked the settings with vodafone web site and all is correct. They do not have a DNS setting. It works perfectly for wap but the mail always says server not found.
Its no big deal because I use GPRS but I always like to test stuff out that I read about so that I know what I am talking about if I pass on that info to someone else.

DNS server you need though. You don't have to use their DNS server, you can use ANY DNS server (unless the provider limits access to it, which is rare)

OK, guys, i may be WAY OFF mark here, and if I am, I apologise.
Anyway, i have struggled for months getting my email right. I have a dutch email provider, so the settings won't help you but maybe the story will.
I got the settings off
www.sonyericsson.com email configurator.
The email would still not work, however, coz the DNS address was missing. Corrected that, and now it is working.
The email configurator created a special wap profile on my phone, with it's own dial in number. To send email, I dial up to this number and it works like a charm.
Try getting the 'mobile settings' from your email provider and try to get their mobile dial up number (if they have one)
Alternatively, look at the
site to find out which ones can be configured from there, then get an account from any of the supported email providers.

wrath000, I actually tried it by entering the ip address of my pop3 server so no DNS was required. works pefectly with GPRS but still not with dial up wap (or GPRS WAP).
Actually I have never used a DNS even pre GPRS when I used to dial up all the time. If you can suggest one I will try it, though I don;t think it will make a diff based on my previous comment above.

editL I tried that DNS mail.mymailserver.com (had to use IP 66.216.74.57 since you can't enter it as a name) but same error again.

Just now, I tested out sending an e-mail over HSCSD and it worked.

fair enough. we'll leave it there... thanks... at least I know about it now but its not always supported.
Personally I never understood why wap or internet have to be separated... it all just ip!
