Mario will never, ever appear in a mobile phone game, not in a "legal" way anyway, unless Nintendo take a chance on the mobile gaming genre, but then they have the GameBoy,which is lets face it,just a tad bit more powerful than any mobile phone currently on the shelves or any planned in the next 5 years at least.

One could always code from scratch and make it look and feel like
the original and call it something else.
Then you just steal the idea and I don't think it would be braking the
law.

You will not be stealing. You will be introducing a retro classic to the masses, and educating people to young to have the experience in playing an all time classic.
Can you just make me a decent pong game PLEEEEASSSSSSEEEEE???
thats all I want.

Giana Sisters is a kinda Mario clone that would be legal to remake (as it was a game on the old Atari520).
Even if decompiled java code misses the import statements, it's really not that hard to figure out where the functions come from. Does anyone have some code we can play with??

@dw: stealing an idea IS breaking the law - intellectual property theft or copyright infringement. @all: seeing all you guys talk about this makes me regret i was never attracted by programming...

I'm curious to know if Siemens uses a customised java VM or they have the standard one. Care to send it to me too for a test?
