rolling the jogdial aint a hard task to get the light back on though.
Dude, I fully agree with you - My point really was that, if you do something do it properly or dont do it at all... SE, in this case, have tried to better the firmware, and they have in certain ways... but they have also back tracked by making such errors.
The same can be said for when the alarm rings with a message... you cant read the message cuz the light doesnt come on!
I agree that only a lazy person would complain about turning the jog dial - but these errors obviously show SE's laziness and slackness.
Sorry to whinge...

Vermania, is that on R2F? Or R2D? (or whatever the first 1 was!)
I've been told that this is a problem really on R2F...

ive had this too when i put my flip back on recently - R1D.
It ain't a firmware thing - its 3rd party - I never solved it coz my flip came straight off again a week later, but it might be to do with tracker.
I dont use handy day ever but ive got virtually every app installed so can't be arsed to trouble shoot it

hey I came from R1D and everything is great I don't experience any of the backlight shutting off thing when i have the old software but when i upgraded to r2f the backlight thing came in. I think it's the software buggs not the functions or settings. I have used my p800 for 2 months before i upgraded and receives more than 15 text messages a day and i alays reply that's why im confident that the problem is with the software.... my oh my why did SE did this. The other poster did said that were lazy in turning the jog dial just to turn on the backlight. You are right my friend but how about when u get the phone on automatic keypad lock and your backlight don't turn on. How would you know that you are reading the text message or just click on the screen that says keypad lock?????
