right have just been on the phone to singlepoint and have changed my tariff to a £35 quid on as effective at midnight 2nite he said i can change to anyone i wanted to i.e the lowest tariff. so in the end i think i got a good deal cos i didnt pay a thing for my p800 and for the first 3 months i got half price line rental @ £37.50 so all in all i am very happy dont you just love it when things work out? all that is left to do now is when the p810/900 comes out is to accidentally lose my p800 and claim a nice new p900 on the insurance.

I took my P800 on a cheapish Vodafone contract through Carphone Warehouse. I was told at the time that after 3 months, I could change contract UPWARDS only, not a downgrade.

thanks to everyone for responding to this post, its been very helpful.
It looks like i am in the same boat as "bigweb" and he successfully changed to a lower contract. even if i was to drop down to the £35/month for the last 9months (£33*3 + £35*9 = £414) it only works out at £14 more expensive than O2 who were going to charge me £400 to upgrade to this phone in June but i would get tons of free mins and txt's. will let you know how i get on, i will just have to see what free min's ect. i get on the £35/month contract.

I bought my p800 from singlepoint on a £75pm tarrif the shop said that l had to be on it for the first 3 months but after the 1st monthly payment went out l phoned customer support and changed to a £16pm tarrif. My original contract only stated that l stay with O2 for 12 months, nothing about changing tarrifs. The girl at singlepoint said l could change tarrifs upto once per day if l wanted to.

As someone said singlepoint must be losing money but who cares as long as it isnt me.

www.mobileshop.com Orange Total price £360 for P800
At mobileshop.com on the £50 pm tariff the P800 is £40. You can change to the lower £15 pm tariff after 4 months. Therefore total price of the P800 (and lots of free calls!) is about £360.
