Check for firewall, or any software tha may mess TCP/IP protocol, the problem seems to be with protocol, since the phisical link is done ok.
For me is was solved removing IMESH(and gain and newnetdomains...wich are part of the package) as i stated on another post.

wel, it seems like were all having this problem.
as for me, I am running on Win98SE OS and I had to dload the PC suite for Win98 on SE's website.
Ever since I started using the PC suite, I was having this problem but it just seems to get worse with time.
Some solutions I can suggest (which works for me most, not all, of the time) are as follows:
- Turn off your Kazaa porgram. this seems to conflict with the PC suite.
- while the PC suite says "connecting", uncheck and check the tick box then try again
- Also, you may unplug and plug in again the cradle to your usb port while the Suite is connecting..
again, this works most of the time, not a sure cure..
if anyone of our posters can create a patch to fix this prob, then we will forever be grateful

Thanks for the suggestions.
As I was saying...it has been working for months, then stopped...no firewall, no iMesh..(although I DID used to have iMesh 3.5 and it worked JUST FINE with it installed..) The phone has never been used as a modem, so it was always set to PC connect.
ALL of the standard troubleshooting has been gone through...even with an SE support guy...twice...a specialist at SE is supposed to call me back but I think they have just given up on this problem.
I am not the only one this is happening to and for those who think their connection is just fine....so did I....there is no clear reason why it suddenly stopped working.
SE definitely needs to do some sort of upgrade to PC Suite to deal with this issue....

Hi,
I had the same issues you guys have posted here. Tryied everything on the sw side, but one night I opened my cradle and then I could see the real problem, the connectors on the circuit were all broken, it is a very, I mean VERY, delicated circuit, any movement can damage it.
I sent it to repair, and now works very fine again.
Best,

Few things:
1. Remove personal Firewall applications (or at least open them up to the sync software). This includes the built-in XP firewall application!!!!
2. Some antivirus software can cause this.
3. Log off your computer, take the phone off the cradle and turn it OFF. Log back in, then when the software has "settled down", turn on your phone and put it on the cradle.
4. If you get occasional beeping sounds on your phone, or the connection is not reliable try this:
* Take a BRAND NEW hard fiber (more abrasive) toothbrush and brush the connector on the bottom of the phone.
* Use the brush on the cradle's connector too.
You'd be surprised to find that this helped my connection issues tremendously! Some form of oil forms on the connectors (they are small enough so you don't see it) and the connection is simply intermittent!!!

Thanks, but have to reiterate...this is not just with the cradle...it won't connect to the phone by BT or IRDA either, although the phone IS connected and I can send files by irda....BT says there is no phone selected in Phone monitor although it shows a full serial connection on both the phone and PC.
It is the same with the cradle..shows as connected..but can't get through to the phone.
Please, how do I get to the XP built-in firewall?
I don't have a third party firewall installed.
And don't forget...this USED to work JUST FINE.....it is SOMETHING to do with XP, I think.....something blocking access to the phone....
although the port is free for Mrouter. Same with blutooth...
Can someone tell me how to check what the built in XP firewall might be up to? I searched for "firewall" in windows explorer and came up with nothing.

Firewall in Windows XP is under network connections, you select one connection, and right mouse click on it, go to properties, go to the advanced tab and there is the firewall. This is a per connection basis firewall, so if you have more than one connection (LAN and Modem) you must setup all of them one by one.

Ah, ok thank you. It is NOT checked.....so it's not a firewall thing.
