I'll compare the sizes when the 600 is out and there is a 0.1% chance that I might change to the 600. I also agree that the new phones are disappointing, but the accessories aren't! I love the gamepad and the car!

Well these phones do not offer anything new, but the clamshell form factor to SE users who are not in Japan. This could mean an alternative buy to those who considered buying Samsung instead of SE but...
There is still NO EDGE phone from SE!! (Helloooo...)
Z200 has no MMS!! This is a stupid choice, especially considering the phone is meant at low-end mass market. But it looks very good, except the very ugly hole in the top. Why can't this stupid thing be removed?!? In Scandinavia you could cut cheese with it in the morning. You could also open beer bottles with it, or hang it on the wall. You can also attach it to your belt, if you're not planning to use it (unless you're very flexible).
Z600 has nothing new compared to T610. Otherwise it looks like any other clamshell out there... slightly boring.
The other one is not worth mentioning (to me

) it's yet again the same thing in almost the same plastic shell.
Z1010 is now delayed to 2004
Overall, it's somehow disappointing.

didn't quite surprise us (or let's say me at least

) this time.

OK ppl.
As with all things, the new phones will appeal to certain ppl and not appeal to others.
What you all seem to forget, is that not
all
customers (or the general public) are waiting for the most advanced phone ever. Lots of ppl want a phone with a few extras.
As for leaving MMS out: I personally am not very impressed with the possibilities of MMS at the moment. I wonder how any ppl use it on a daily basis??
Think most ppl will get by without it
Now what's important for

at the moment is to gain market share. The fastest growth market in cell phones is the youth.... so naturally

wants a slice of that cake!
Express on covers have proven to be very popular, so naturally

will have those available.
Not every youngster needs a full pda, not every youngster needs a full calender.
The gaming items I think are an excellent move by
As for those of us (like me) who are waiting for the high end phones.... We may well have to wait a while longer. Both the t610 and the P800 are still amongst the very top in their league. It would be tremendously stupid by

to release phones that will in essence compete with their own products!
Patience folks.

has always been able to produce fabulous phones... with quite a price tag... I don't think for even a second they lost thier skill. but if they want to stay in business, they need to compete on all levels, including mid and low end phones.

A lot of people including me has been complaining about Nokia releasing the same spec. phones with just design changes. Z600 and T610 seems to be just that. Anyway I guess it's ok if that's what it takes to gain market share.
And yes I agree with Rashke that it would be stupid to release a replacement (better phone) for the T610 considering that it has only been on the market since may this year and it's a top seller. People who were expecting that should think a little.
A successor to the P800 is likely though, and will probably be presented quite soon, at least according to the statements by SE yesterday.
Although most of us don't care about the Z200 or the T230 I think these low-end phones has the potetential of being a huge success. Cheap good-looking colour phones.. could sell loads, especially considering that Nokia just recently released some low-end phones...without colour-screens. And the new SE low-end phones rivals Nokias mid-end/high-end phones.
I do think it's strange that the Z200 doesn't support MMS though.

I feel very positive for

did anyone visit sonyericsson japan page?
www.sonyericsson.co.jp
try to look for the AU or KDDI product range and you see some clam shell tht look like Z600 (even the changable face plate concept is from there!!!)...i just wonder did SonyEricsson have answer some of the request we read in forum (from clam shell loveR) but putting all those cool japanese CDMA phone into GSM format. roughly like what samsung did.
of course candy bar user hates it but as long as they make good candy bar and clam shell phone...i see no reason we feel sad.

Sony Ericsson are finally working out why Nokia are doing so well. It's a shame it took so long!
It's silly to simply release loads of new phones that will appeal only to existing users. For example, release a T620 knowing that a T610 will buy it, because they owned a T68 before.
That is one market for sure but they really need to have a range of phones that appeal to people that haven't bought a SE phone before.
So, you target different market segments with a range of phones that have different features (one with games, one with camera, one with organiser - and then, ideally for us, one with the lot).
And THEN it's a good idea to also offer the same product/s in a different case so you get people who want a normal looking phone, or the people who love clam-shells (which are certainly the fashion these days). Minimal extra production/R&D costs make this more sensible than having to build a whole new product (new screen, new UI etc). I think 4096 colour screens are almost as bad as 256/512 but they are obviously cheap and serve their purpose.
In the end, they gain more sales, while a minority get "annoyed" that their phone is no longer the newest. I think those people need to grow up, or simply fall into the trap that we all do with gadgets and upgrade every few months! You can't expect a company to stop making new products because it means you've not got the "best" anymore. [And, being realistic, the majority of phone users don't care one bit if the phone is top of the range/brand new/exclusive]
Do Nokia lose sales overall by having so many phones? No, they increase sales and thus market share and revenue. Of course one or two models might be a disaster but it's better to have 1 or 2 products in 10-15 fail than have your sole product fail and you go bust.
When Ford had the Escort and Fiesta, they were both top selling cars. They then built the Ka, which is essentially a slightly smaller Fiesta. They expected the sales of the Fiesta to be hit hard and, slightly less so, the Escort.. as people chose the Ka instead. It didn't happen. The Fiesta and Escort remained top sellers and the Ka attracted new buyers who wouldn't have bought either the Fiesta or Escort. Ford managed to create a whole new market and then dominate it!
Can SE do the same? If they can, they WILL regain market share and could one day give Nokia a run for their money.
It's a big gamble and releasing Bluetooth cars could either be a silly waste of time, or a surprising hit that makes SE cool. Time will tell.
