you can actually store 160mins on a normal MD if you dont have a netMD.. if you record it in mono sound as opposed to stereo

Yup like MixiN said, it's a netMD and it's able to record 5hours in LP4 mode and it has a record speed of 32x, the new ones has a speed of 64x ( special ones for the 10 years of the Minidisc ) it's takes more time to convert the files than to transfer them

Absolutely nothing wrong with converting MP3's to Ogg.........
...provided the original MP3's were of good/excellent quality. What this means is that the MP3's should have been 160 - 192 kbps (either variable or constant bit rate).
128kbps wouldn't be bad but not great.
Any lower than 128kbps and your not gonna get anything worthwhile.
The program to use is dBpowerAMP.
Really it isn't a program but a Suite consisting of individual units that you can install seperately. The Suite consists of the Converter, Player, Audio Input, File Selector, and various codecs.
And the real cool thing is, it's ALL FREE!
It's fantastic.
I have been using MusicMatch for years and I would say that this program is much better, although I find the MusicMatch user interface a bit more friendly.
Get the program here

In my experience, converting from MP3 to Ogg and then converting that Ogg back to MP3 should NOT cause major loss of quality provided, and this is the important bit, you start off with decent quality MP3, and then produce a decent quality Ogg.
I hope the info I have provided is helpful

Just rip to .OGG for new files - IMO near identical quality gives an OGG file of 1/3 the size of the MP3.

Yes very true.
The ideal situation is to convert straight from CD to Ogg.
But the problem we have at the moment is that MP3 has now become the universal standard. So my view is that perhaps its best just to have Oggs for your P800 or other portable device.
If there was any justice in this world then Ogg would be the new standard. But as it is Open Source the Ogg folks don't have the commercial clout to push their standard over everyone else's.
But on the other hand we could all start a mini revolution. By coding all of our music in Ogg and if any of our friends ask us why we use this we can inform them of the virtues of Ogg. "MP3 is sooo yesterday!!" I am sure some of our image conscious friends change over to Ogg if they are told its the "in thing"
