@ masseur i managed to get about two metres using its on my Sony Dav-s 880 digital home cinema system but on my Sony widescreen tv the range was rubbish, i virtually needed to be inside the tv set.

It would be great to use the mobile as a remote, even if the range is crap. I've DVD that I want to make multi-region, and for this I need to send some kind of IR to the DVD-player...

I must admit that I agree totaly with nokevin.
S**t, in the UK you can buy a multi-remote control for well under ten pounds if you know where to look, which would solve your 'having three remote controls problems', so why on earth would you want your phone to be able to do it?
We've all heard of bluejacking and bluesnarfing, are you lot trying to start up 'bluetelevisioning' or what
