> Drawing a pound sign on P800

@Vermania the Hank guy had read the manual cos he knew what to do. He just got the direction of the 1 stroke wrong and it is doesn't always work when you get the direction right! I think and hope that you get paid for all the hard work you do for all of us on Estato but if the obvious questions drive you nuts why not leave them to lesser souls to answer ?

The pound sign (£):
ABOVE THE BLACK TRIANGLE (the numbers section)
Draw a vertical line from BOTTOM to TOP ( | ).
Then immediately to the right of it draw a capital "L" ( L ).
Then draw two dashes to the right of the L that make an equals sign ( = ).
Looks like this (but without the gaps the ASCII chars make):
| | ___
| | ___ - numbers area of screen
| |___
Sorry if I'm a bit over-explanitory - IM BORED!

I think it will be a hell lot easy to click the key board and click on the £ sign than do all the strokes explained above and still get it wrong, and offcourse you can write the rest of the message using handwriting recognition if you prefer it.

Its not difficult at all once you get used to it. It really depends on personal preference, personally I prefer to use the handwriting recognition. Very rarely do I need to use the keyboard function.

he is right the pound sign keying in may look a lot of hassle but i was timed in at 0.65 Seconds to do it and why pay so much for a revolutionary phone and not use one of its best features. The handwriting recognition on P800 is very good works well all the time unlike some software which tries to do the same thing. I some times find my self writing like i do on the p800 when i am writing on pen and paper. Instead of writing . I always write \ an d so on i need to get a life i know. Maybe full time comedian!

The handwriting recognition is in fact very good on the P800 as Vermania says. It does work most of the time, and really the only major problems with it are caused through human error.

I would like to ad that after using an ipaq, with all its messing around teaching it the style i write in & so on...the "So called" king of PDA's.
I picked up the P800, read the "Help" menu & just started using it, it works FAR better than any Ipaq, its user friendly & can cope with slight user style changes.

well you see I have the opposite experience. I couldn't get half the words into my P800 but transcriber on the ipaq is almost flawless!
