I was talking to a friend about this the other (having not read anything about the news above) saying I wonder why there are no plans for such a phone. I came after seeing an episode of Friends that he had on his P800 which was quite watchable at full screen.
I think on really small screens it's not really worth the extra power drain it'll put on the phone, and especially not worth the external aerial. On phones like a P800 or Nokia 9210 (is that their PDA one? I don't know anything about Nokia's.) it could be a nice idea for all the buisness types that want to catch the news in their lunch hour, or just want something else on their phone to show off.
Mark my words though, the big thing that's coming up in mobile phones is digital radio. In a few years time most phones, in say the T610 class, will have one built in. I think technology can just about shrink enough to do this now, but it would be too expensive.

With a decent size screen it would be cool

I like the idea, because in any given day, terrestrial TV comes up with an average of 0.9 decent programs that interest me, & its mostly on when i'm out doing something else.
Its a cruel irony that after decades of TV being in the home, technology can put it in our pockets, at EXACTLY the point in which (Apart from news/current affairs) most of it has become complete rubbish.
TV phones will no doubt make the traffic police even more furious.

Hopefully..... in due time.... it will cause those crap shows and quizzes to die out.... as I seriously doubt we'll ever get 'wheel of fortune' on cellular tv..... but news, stocks, economy info, 24 hr world wide weather... few docu's maybe..... yeah i can see a future for that

Well yes it would be insane if you would have a TV on a t68i, but phones such like gx20,p800,p900... have good screens (320*240, 208*320) and it's quite possible to watch a show, personaly I think it would be great if you could watch seinfeld, simpsones, south park.... on a train
@masseur: I don't agree with you on the point with small screens... mobile screens get a step further every day so you will probably be able to watch a quality movie on your phone in year 2005
for an example: t68i (101*80, 256) - t610 (128*160, 65k) only one year......

mmsman, I still disagree. no matter the quality of the screen, the size will always be a limiting factor in phones wit hthe form factor of T610 etc.
fijbert, no we are in agreeance. I did say I can understand this happening on PDAs as the screens are large enough (such as my ipaq) and I do include P800 with that as I found that fairly watchable when I had one, though it would be more so in landscape mode.
