I seem to rember seeing this before on Esato. But anyway you may want to try it. I did this and it all works fine for me as I also get and send SMS all over the world.
If you have contacts on both the sim and the phone, even though you may have picked the contact up from the phone and the SMS was sent with the name, when the SMS comes back it uses the contact on the sim. The message has to go through the sim for network/validation etc., and picks up the contact details at the same time.
So the solution is to delete all the contacts from your sim card. The SMS will pick up the details from the phone and all will be well.
