I'm in a toss up for a new "pda" type phone.

Really like the Siemens SX1 specs., but the spv2 and p900 look very nice too.

Just sold my t68(m) due to problems with connections to net (had all the newest upgradeds though).

Read some reviews... don't like the fact 128 MB may be a limit to the memory capacity for the p900 (also no recording of calls... that the t68 handles quite nicely).

Any ideas or suggestions.

Current phone... company T200 (ok phone ))

I only use handwriting function over the on-screen keyboard - it's so much faster that trying to type, especially when you are on the go!
And yes UIQ offers better handwriting recognition than both Palm and PPC.

The only thing I would mention - if you buy the P800/900, DO NOT use the screen before you stick a protective screen on it! I can't imagine a more sad thing than having scratches on the touch-screen.

well i have a pocket-pc at the moment, so touch-screens are not that unfamiliar
however, i'm using a screen-cover and a vaja case, so my baby is pretty well protected.

anyways, what does "handwriting function over the on-screen keyboard" mean, i can't put my head around what you're trying to say. or is it me who doesn't have a clue that there are other input methods besides the keyboard and the full-screen-separated-by-a-tiny-arrow-character-recognition?
