Sheesh, how many people use GPRS on their phones in the first place? Not many, I believe, even though their phone may support it.

Unless they can make GPRS and 3G more affordable to the average person in the world, I don’t see it going too far (Especially for you people in Europe, pay enough FEES already, hehe)

Also, for all you people saying America is far behind in mobile technology, you should research that again Sprint is offering great service coverage with Internet access for a very low fee, not to mention awesome reception all over (I’ve been to Europe many times, and the reception sucks in many areas, especially in brick homes). They are also coming out with some great looking color display phones, which seem like a very good competition against any GSM phone trying to take over America, hehe.

Besides that, we have WAP access that’s pretty much "FREE" here, even though practically not many people care (Same goes with GRPS, even though we have it, no one knows it’s there).

U say no one uses or knows about GPRS yet I work in a store here and most of my customers use it and if they dont they know about it. How did you get ur T68 probably from ebay as its hard for u to get hold of. If you look at stats ur find ur following the same trend as europe, u still have analog networks and use pages (hehehehehe) In the Uk we have 99.8% coverage whats the % of coverage in the usa

@rdlc you live in the UK, and they are more ahead then other country's
like belgium only 5% of the mobile phone users know what GPRS is and those people are only early adaptors. (thank god i am one of them) but are GPRS price's are the highest of all europe and only 2 of the operators have GPRS.

@rdlc

That was an idiotic post.

We still use Analog networks due to the fact that some people may still use analog phones. Even Europe still has analog networks looming around.

I said most people do not know about GRPS because most people here in the US do not know about it at all. As for Europe, I’m sure many people know about GPRS, but how many use it constantly and can they even afford to use it? Heh. I've read on the forums about some hefty prices on GPRS all around Europe, and they seem to vary A LOT.

Now about the US, we already have 3G networks setup in Southern California (Sprint), about half the size of England I bet (Oh, we are so technologically backwards!) Now, as for coverage, look how small England is compared to the entire USA, put some logic in your next post next time.

As for where I purchased my phone, I purchased it online from a Swedish company, not from Ebay, as for why, because I need phone I can use across borders without switching phones. Not only that, the T68 works great with my Ipaq, a very good combination. By the way, it was not "DIFFICULT" to get. You make it sound like I live in Iraq and I'm smuggling phones in.

We pay lots of fees would that be for our national health service your country cant afford one cause of the wars you start on third world countrys. Your coverage around built up areas is appauling no one expects you to have coverage in the middle of a nowhere but somewhere would be a start. Youve made my point when you state that no one knows about it or cares about it thats cause youre countrys behind by a year or two. 3G isnt avalible anywhere in the states thats bullshit there testing down there but it isnt avalible to any one as no 3G licenses have been sold in the usa yet. The only diffrence 3G will make is a much faster connection time you wont see any thing you havent seen before apart from new fancy handsets with built in cameras. The media have hyped this up so much it really isnt that great. Just look at what 3G does and you will see what I mean.

Funny, I recall visiting a Motorola factory, sending equipment to Europe from California to build up GSM networks over to Europe (This was about five to seven years ago). Also, if we are so poor, why do we own so many vehicles and large homes and with such variety to choose from? All I hear is how people in Europe hate America and whine about having so little (Even my cousins and friends).
Please, we don't hate you

Although, I agree that GSM may not be as top notch as in Europe, but that is mostly due to competitions with other cellular providers attempting to prove to the world that there "Technology" is better (Such as CDMA/TDMA, which is a huge competitor against GSM systems in North and South America), not to lack of funds.

As for your "Bullshit no 3G anywhere in the states", take a look for yourself smart ass:
http://www.sprintpcs.com/, and yes, it’s not GSM.

And your "In Europe we can buy are handsets from mobile stores that are scatterd every where.", we have mobile stores scattered all over as well, with a very large variety of phones to choose from, including GSM or CDMA phones. And no, they are not “Black market” phones, as you seem to think of them. You must think we live in the Middle Ages over here, but it’s really not that much different than in Europe.

Do a little research.

And please, spell check you’re writing, it got a little tedious trying to read your typing.
