RS Electrics, will not unlock the phone I rung them over a week ago asking for P900 unlock and they said because they are a registered SE Service Centre, they can not unlock phones...
That is their offical line anyway.....
Before some smart ass starts, Some SE Service centres do it.....

@ simion_levi
Isn't the phone only legally yours after the 12 months are up or you have paid 12 months contract? Seeing as thats how the networks subsidise the phone, there is probably something in the smallprint about that. Although to be honest who cares about the networks!

http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/terms_airtime (point 14 of standard O terms and conditions. )
And I quote- "your phone is not a part of your Contract.
14.1 Your phone and accessories are acquired by you outside the terms of your contract."
The phone is not part of the contract. The phone was mine as soon as i paid £50 to the Link for it. Normally they would sell it for more, but because i was also buying an Orange contract at the same time, (an unrelated item in every other way), a 'discount' is arranged. However, the phone is still just made as a straight purchase with no ties. If i default on the contract, they have no rights to the phone under those conditions - but of course they can chase me for breach of contractual terms, i.e. not paying for at least 12 months. It's the same on every UK network, with the exception of some dodgy virtual providers who write recall clauses in and tie the phone to the contract.

So, did you (or anyone else) manage to get it unlocked ?

No haven't.
Many "unlock" sites require you to buy a cable ... which I don't have... and I don't want to. It's because it works out about 20 pounds to unlock online including buying that cable.
If would be better if there is a shop in Central London that I can walk in and have the phone unlocked while I wait... still haven't had anytime to try to track down such a shop.

Hi Vermania
I just talked to Orange Re: Sim Unlock Code, the tele-rep took my IMEI number and then said sum1 will contact me in a few days with details on how to unlock. Is that normal??. I just dialled 150 from my phone, did U call some other number?.
Thanx
Riz
