ok I am a new P900 owner and I have exactly the same problem.
When the P900 is in the cradle it works. Out of cradle it dont work!!
Why is vodafone so ****?
I tried all the different wap profiles and oprea says its connected but does nothing when the P900 is out of the cradle!
Anyone know how to fix this problem? It seems to only happen with vodafone.

The answer is that you need a GPRS Web/internet setting as well as a WAP setting. When your P900 is in the SyncStation it is using the internet connection of you laptop/PC. Have a look here for settings and information

I had the same problem yesterday. However, after getting my phonecompany to send me an Autoupdate SMS for the GPRS Internet, Opera worked fine. (So now I have 3 GPRS setups - one for WAP, one for MMS and one for GPRS Internett (which Opera uses)) The only other thing is that I had to restart the phone before it worked 100%.

Hmmm and ideas if the auto sms update for p800 on the vodafone website will work for the p900?
failing that I will have to call vodafone up after christmas and get them to send a sms that sorts out the wap configuration.
I had the same problem with my T610 but never could be arsed to sort it out but now I got a p900 I really want to go online on the move.
