sahran, I think you misunderstand me.
I know that T9 does what you say, however I am talking about 'predictive text' for example when I want to mwrite the word 'prototype' when I get as far as typing 'proto' the phone will already suggest the whole word 'prototype' to me, along with all other words in the dictionary that start with 'proto'.
Now that it does not do with standard dictionary, it only does that with words I've added myself to the dictionary.
Like I said.... my previous phone did have a complete 'predictive text' feature which I liked tremendously. Therefore... I miss that feature on

sorry mate, id' have to disagree, the SE t610 is still far and away slower than any nokia i've used for predictive text messaging! as much as i love my new T610, it doesn't hold a candle to a nokia for speed of texting. i can only assume you text REALLY slowly normally and don't really notice it. one thing it does do nicely, that i haven't noticed on any nokia, is remember which matches for certain keypresses you use the most and remembers so you don't have to cycle through them as often

First, I was really confused with the body ofthe message, correlating it with the author's subjct/heading. If we are to really understand the meaning of the subject/heading here, well I guess the author is 'definitely' mistaken (or am I) with the latter's explanation. T610 is not the fone where you can type sms - the fastest, even if you use the 'chatboard'. I guess the Nokia 9210/i and Nokia 6800 is still the fastest fone to type your sms - at present! Even if we include the accuracy of the so-called T9 predictive texting in the discussion, doesn't do much as well.

actually, SE does complete the word to a certain degree.
lets say you stored 'carphone' in your personal dictionary.
and then you wanted to type out 'carphone'
you can type out 'car' and then use the joystick to scroll thur the word suggestions and after it is done with the default dictionary, it will go into your personal dictionary and show 'phone', thus completing 'carphone'
i know its not quite what you are talking about but it is completing the word....somewhat.

T9 itself is just a lookup table between words and numbers. i.e. "hello" -> "43556", and each manufacturer can implement the actual imput method in any way they like. Many SE phones will remember which word you used last, and will show that word first, while many Nokia phones will always show the word matches sequentially. So Nokia will be faster for typing common words since you don't need to look at the screen to pick the right match.

I type faster without the t9 system but thats mainly cuz i have a lot of experience and cuz the keyboard's very good. Other than that,my SE phose is no different than my alcatel 701 that also employs a joystick and the same t9. The t 610 is fast, not as fast as a nokia but when typing a sms it's no lag. THIS is all that i needed and when i bought it,i went straight to messages to see how fast it is. I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't fast.Another satisfied customer:-D
