have u guys ever tried handwallet. it has a lot of features on there. like credit card accounts bank accounts, expense, graphs and bunch of other stuff. i downloaded it but i didnt have a real use for it cuz some of the stuff on there was really complicated or not simple enough. i think it would be good for those finance geeks out there. hehe

@malbry
The old email I mentioned which at time refered to P800 but just as appropriate for P900

"Well, if you can make jabp as good as the Palmtop (TomTom) Money programme for Series 5 machines, I would pay you Ģ40 for it.

Only reason I still keep a Revo, just for the Money programme and I have tried all the Desktop & PocketPC programmes but for me nothing comes close, but yours is showing promise on P800. With the Series 5 machines I would have used your jabp but found Money better.

For the P800

Ideally c++ application for speed/efficiency.
Don't really care about sync. with a desktop application as I want a portable banking app. with sufficient features to be stand-alone, especially now I have the all-in-wonder of the P800. Wish I could programme myself good enough so I could write a programme like Palmtop Money (already contacted them but they don't look like they will do a conversion). The desktop applications have become over featured leading them to be slow to use & over complicated.

Your questions:

1) What are the shortcomings of Mastersoft Money, in your view?

Reliance on AppForgeBooster which immediately compromises code efficiency, speed & big memory overhead for booster. Too 'pretty' with compromises in functionality. Limited screen space is wasted. Missing basic features such as split transactions, missing 4 weekly intervals for scheduled items (your S/O), handles future scheduled transactions poorly (can't specify unlimited and if you create to a long time in the future, it seems to create them all there and then!?!?, possibly hundreds) graphs look good but very lacking especially future projection which only shows single point for a month (could be up and down like a yoyo inbetween, how can you see future daily changes over say the next 2 week? you can't). Catagary icons is not a bad idea though.

2) What other features would you like to have in a P800 personal finance program which are not currently present in Jabp?

This is off the top but I'm sure I could go on for ages

In priority order

a)When producing a future balance graph, highlight the max & min values and display values. Even better, also have option that if you touch a part of the graph, a box with the date & value are shown. b)Correct linking of transfer transactions so if you need to edit, both sides of transfer are altered and transfer taken into account in future balance reports without having to do double entry. c)Time based expense report i.e show me what I spent my money on last week, last month, last year, date range etc. d)Big improvements needed to data entry to speed up recording new transactions. In description entry give look up table type option so that for example in you enter Sainsbury's once, the next time it will give you option to autocomplete say when you have typed sain...., enter date by date calendar box like in most P800 applications (quick), again quick entry of a value with a mini calculator type dialogue. e)Trend graph (bar or line) by catagory. ie show me groceries over last year by week,month etc. f)Subcatagories. g)Catagory icons like the 'pretty' competitor.

Sure I have many more ideas but thats enough for now. Really need (a) & (b) urgently

Would love to beta test your stuff & continue to give input

Best regards"

>> I tried JABP and i must say its pretty much what i need . I have tried the Java runtime directly on my desktop and now i am about to install it on the phone. Do you plan to release a UIQ 2.1 version anytime ?
Jabp already runs on the P900.

>> Also i need to put in repeat trasactions automatically. This was also the reason i didnt use the commercial ones. I want a transaction to appear every month without me having to enter it, i know there is a regular option in Jabp but i want it done automatically. Can you help me there ?
That's exactly what the Standing Order option does.

Best regards,
Malcolm

Is there any finance application that I can use with Microsoft Money on my desktop? Ideally, I want to have my main copy as Microsoft Money and then be able to enter data onto my phone during the day (ie. expenses) which I can then syncronise with Microsoft Money when I get home. Can any application here do that?

Thanks

Hi all,

Is there a difference between JABP and the JABP Lite version? Is the Lite just a subset of the JABP, or does it have functionalities which JABP doesn't have?

I'm looking for a good personal finance tool for my P900, and find that Handy Expense is a little too simple too .....

Thnks.

Jabp has what I need for just accounts but RMRBank is so very much more then that. I am using Fuel, Invest, Acoounts and Planner parts of RMRBank and it is very great working. Donīt make the mistake to buy just like say RMRExpense or RMRFuel because each module is very expensive. Buy the whole RMRBank program and get all together 12 modules for $5 more only.
