O2 gprs is totally free in uk til either Jan or Mar 04 - depending on who u believe lol. It certainly is free at mo in any case. I got my gprs enabled phone in spring/summer03 and i've never topped up lol. It is pretty buggy but hey its free

hi guys!! we had this cool feature , me and my friend... it was a period here in NORWAY, when we could send free MMS.. well those MMS went over GPRS, and when you had the GPRS profile on your phone for sending MMS, if you were surfing on the wap, it didn't cost you anything.. that's how I found ESATO, worlds greatest mobile site

but unfortently this feature is long gone by now, as it now costs 2,50 NOK to send one MMS

Just to answer an earlier question, GPRS in theory can transfer data at around about 56kbits/sec, i.e. approx. the same speed as a dial-up-modem on a PC (~5k per second).

In practice, however, I'm not convinced my GPRS doesn't seem a great deal faster than GSM WAP! (I'm on Orange UK)
