I'm with t-mobile and I have the $29.99 a month plan with the $4.99 unlimited GPRS. So maybe you should check into that again.

mrj82> I got the same plan....it rocks....cheap GPRS and I get extra minutes for being loyal customer. I don't think I'll ever leave T-Mobile if they continue giving me this excellent treatment.

Yeah I'm happy with the service, just wished they had better coverage around here. But hey its either go with t-mobile and get decent coverage, or go with one of those old analog nokias on another service and get worse quality but slightly better coverage.

I'm getting 0.5 Mb GPRS with my account (about 8 euro a month) and an extra 9.5 Mb for +15 euro a month... Is that good or expensive?

Compared to what I pay that seems expensive.

T-Mobile does offer unlimited T-zones for $4.99/ month as of last month. For their old customers, who used to have 1Mb/month for $2.99, they stopped the counter and turned that into unlimited GPRS access (I just received their notification in the mail).

I, however, use GPRS for free, and here is how - I just started a new service with T-Mobile and for all new accounts the provide UNLIMITED GPRS access, but they have a very limited homepage - just to purchase/download ringtones and pictures and to subscribe to unlimited T-zones. I guess the idea was to allow new customers to download (and pay for) as many tones and pics they want.

All I have to do then is to open ANY page through my browser and voila! - there is your unlimited internet. I just don't know how long is this going to last, though.

Anyone else with a similar ("free GPRS") experience on T-Mobile US?

It is easy to compare GPRS plans but voice plans differ a lot between countries. In US, every provider offers "flat rate" plans where you pay higher amount each month and then that includes a bunch of minutes. I know in Sweden there isn't a true flat rate provider yet. Don't know about other countries though. Maybe we should start a new thread about that since this thread is about wireless web.

What location are you from? Because I know in California, they rip you off like crazy here. The cheapest is T-mobile here, but it's still $19.99 and you'd have to have a $29 or above plan with them.

The price plans might be different in CA because T-Mobile uses Cingular's network in CA. They made a roaming agreement a few years ago so both companies would save money. T-Mobile uses Cingular's network in CA while Cingular uses T-Mobile's network in NY.

However, the $4.99 plan is new so try calling cust service and see if you can get it.
