in response to how long your sim will be activated, the usual time is 6 months between top ups (with optus anyway).

Your Vodafone Red SIM (I assume thats what u r using) should be valid for 1 year,bu t your remaining credit just for 30 days since your last recharge. I am using GPRS services (WAP) on red SIM,but I dint have to activate them anyhow...I just sent the correct settings to my phone from Vodafone web site and it works. And after 2 month of using, they still havent charged me anything 4 using it:-D

Is it true that u can send free sms with this red sim? And just to be 100% shure. It dosent cost anything to recive phone calls from abroad? or domestic?

Yes,you can send SMS for free,if u choose that option after each recharge. For example,ie you recharge with $30,you get 60 free SMS. If you charge with $200,you get 1200 SMS for free, which is amazing. If u r making more phonecalls,u can choose option Great call rates, instead of free SMS,where ynu can get local call rate as low as 20¢/min to any network in Australia, anytime (if u charge with $200). And yes, incoming calls are free, even those from overseas. If you need more info, just let me kn ow.
