Read the info i got from sonyericsson:
T630/T628 has a dedicated speaker to ensure the
best possible sound quality. This speaker is situated
on the back of the phone ensuring no discomfort
is felt if a second call is received during an
ongoing call. It also ensures louder ring signals and
removes the need for escalating rings signals.

Mine certainly has increasing ringtone - on incoming call its starting with a "ring" then the ringtone I have added begins to play louder and louder.. maby a bit faster to the loud-part than the T610.

I recieved my T630 yesterday in the mail, and no it doesn't have a seperate speaker or whatever on the back for ring volume. It is the same as the T616/610. Very nice phone by the way.

Yeah I know all their excuses!
I, may I be the only one, never have the phone at my ear if I am not speaking with it!
So that feature is annoying and there is no excuse why they wont let us choose if we want it or not!
- You on the phone, other guy puts you on hold, 3 seconds later, call drops, guy calls you right back... R-I-N-G !!!!!!!
- "there is no excuse?" if customer signs a waiver promising not to sue them, and acknowledging that they can become deaf if the phone rings while being held next to the ear... then maybe

.... Let's all petition

and get the damn ringtone issue sorted out in the next firmware upgrade!!
never going to happen. You will have better luck petititioning them to use a seaparate speaker for the ringer in their new designs, and keeping the same phone size.

Is it such a big thing? How old are you? The only time that could bother you is when you want to show off with your cool midi (I have to admit that I alll too often want to though)...

@Universal Exports - I have to agree I don't think it is a big issue. Plus I don't think sony ericsson will change it even with a petition personaly.

Here is a solution to the first trouble!
When a call drops, let it beep x number of time, lets say 3 times!
Then the user will look at the phone and wonder what happened.
then your friend calls and your phone is not by your ear!
To the other problem of suing!
I have never heard anyone sue a phone company cause they gone deaf!!! And there are phones that don't have increasing and they have very load ringingtones and very near the ear!! Why don't people sue them?!?
Bye bye t630, I am not buying it, thats what se are doing, pushing people of there phones!

4 me it's not an argument of not buying T630. I think someday SE will release firmware without this feature.
Anyway I heat this "ring" sound only when I @ home. But this situation is enought 4 me too
I think the better way is to accept this phone and close eyes (read ears) to this feature
