Yousaf,
Thanks for the input. Guess I'll try another SE service center tomorrow...

Hmm odd that you are getting problems - my own phone(and many others who have had it done at Oxford St SE service center) have had no problems whatsoever - went without a hitch and was done in the hour!
I would guess that your service center are not doing something right!
Keep at it and I hope you can get it done soon!

I had the same problem as sbc_dk with two
different P900's when I took them to a service center
in brighton.
Maybe I should try somewere else.
London is a bit far for me though I live in
west sussex.

Please let me know how it goes, as I of course will update here when something new happens.
Nothing new today, since the service center I had my eye on wanted to keep my P900 for at least a day! What are they thinking? Why don't they understand that we buy these things for a reason? Weird...

I have just ordered a P900 on the Orange network which should arrive tomorrow. I understand that I need to get the update from a SE service centre. I am not too from Oxford St, so will take that recommendation. Does this update unlock the phone as well? I need to use the phone with a twin sim adapter to allow switching between personal and work sims. If not how do I get it unlocked?
Thanks
Gary

Unlock doesn't have anything to do with flashing firmware. At least not to the extend where your phone is unlocked, if you flash it...
I drove 250 km today to have my P900 flashed! After an hour I could pick it up again. I was told that my P900 'demanded' that the user data was deleted. This happens rarely, but on my phone it did. Don't know if this has anything to do with the Orange/non-Orange update?
Anyway, they said that the flashing procedure was otherwise trouble free. No hickups of any kind. And it looks good to me too, with all the Orange stuff gone. But...!
The first time I had it flashed it crashed, and when I tried an online update, the Orange firmware was reinstalled. Don't wanna risk that again, so what do I do? Is there any way to make sure it's fine now, without running the risk of getting Orange back?
One more thing...
I have been going through the file 'mySEUSlog.log', found in C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\log.
I have noticed that when the firmware is SE flashed, I get a few lines of 'Signature invalid! File will be deleted (by) homeflash.i.a'. This does not happen with the Orange firmware!
Could as many of you as possible please check your logs to see if there's a pattern here? Thanks!

Come one, guys. Surely some of you find the safe removal of Orange firmware interesting enough to check a single file on your harddrive?
