Dear fellow Esato members,

Since my very first days as a mobile phone user, I have only owned Ericsson/Sony Ericsson models. I have used, played and tested other models as well so that I would be able to maintain a fair and balanced opinion on other manufacturers.

Lately I grew more and more discontent with the SE models and policy. None of the current models attract me, nor are they close to what Ericsson stood for: extremely intelligent and reliable phones (maybe not very user friendly but this was compensated by a richness of features the other manufacturers were unable to match). I was even considering purchasing the future 6230!

All changed when a friend of mine requested my help (details in this thread). All of a sudden I realized there is plenty of room for worse. Well, yes, the keypad is a little better and they have EDGE (which nobody uses), integrated FM radio and speakerphone (oh, joy!) but besides that - you can’t get anything out of your phone (not even for example some pictures you took). And the menu is - how should I put this - hmh… the same (and not in a good way). And I’m only scratching the surface here…

Conclusion: SE is crap, but the others are even crappier. Guess I’m stuck with SE for a loooong time to come.

P.S. Good opportunity to wish you a Happy (and why not, prosperous) New Year! I hope we’ll all meet in the new year in good health and spirit!

Exactly. You're only scratching the surface. Maybe you should dig into it a bit deeper... (You can get the pictures out for instance).

It also has an MP3 player, MMC card, BT, FM Radio, EDGE (that quite a few are already using), video recorder, RT streaming etc etc

But ok, it has no logo on it, so you may want to think it's crap...

That's certainly not what he said! He said that he thought that all phones were crappy Nokia as but that phones were the least crappiest. Here you come with a standard Nokia lover argument, that we're to blind to see that Nokia make good phones. Judge's argument was certainly not based on that.

@ Universal something
Read again my post... Maybe you understand at the second shot.
Judge had mentions about the 6230 and its same old menu system (like if T610, Z600, T630 didnt have all the same menu system?!), slightly better keypad, EDGE support (that has yet to introduce on its phones), and other superficial aspects to justify his claim that it's crappier than what does. C'mon! That just doesnt make any sense. He even mentioned you can't get the pictures out of the 6230 which is absolutely wrong!

Also remember that the 6230 has a 3 x 3 icon view menu and 3 softkeys, not the same old nokia

Well if u love nokia then buy nokia. For me i'm comfortable with ericsson since it's brick phone until T610. Features wise probably came from ERic (compare with the sony phone) and sony with the design. SE have all what it needs to make a smartphone rather than a funky phone :-D This message was posted from a T610

Let's just admit that there are really good SE and Nokia fones as well. Frankly speaking, I have already owned a number of Nokia and SE fones, and they were just great. A certain feature one has that the other does not have - and vice-versa. So, let's just 'RESPECT' each other's opinions when it comes to liking fones - OK mates ? He would not be just 'no one or nobody', that's why he was branded as the @judge ! He just knows what he's saying. Errrrrr . . . .

Okay... Hangover's gone and for a couple of hours I'm gonna be sober so here is a pertinent reply (sadly, I don't think that some of the respondents in this thread can invoke the same excuse). There were quite a few who I'm sure understood what this thread was all about (DSF, masseur and 701 were definitely among them, as well as jojo in the first part of his post until he went beserk and tried to belittle me). And yes, vlam, we NEED to go into this argument again because it's NOT that age old argument. It's something quite different.

This is not between us, SE users and them, Nokia users. I was actually one of the first to recognize that 6230 was an excellent phone and that SE has nothing (even at this time) to compete that (and before anyone suggests P900 and Z1010, please think). I also constantly admit and give credit to Nokia's achievements. NO. This is about us, phone users and them, the corporations that make those phones. Progress usually comes at a price - it's a paradox that this very price is exactly the operating and build quality of the very phones that are deemed as bringing the aforementioned progress. It's about consumerism. It's about me being disappointed by what Ericsson (now SE) has come to be. That's what it's all about.

Super G: thank you for your excellent reply in the Nokia 6610 thread. However, in this thread I was talking Nokia phones in general, NOT 6230 in particular - it's obvious that some progress in the connectivity sector was bound to be brought by Nokia, even under pressure by consumers (as was the 3*3 menu system and the 3rd softkey, Flying Finn). And please don't mistake me for a mindless Nokia hater. I'm quite the opposite.

Jojo: now what was with that second part of your reply? Do you think you know something about me by my username on Esato?! Think harder... I would very much appreciate if you adjusted your approach just a tad.

Get yourself a P900, and you will start worshiping SE again.
