> how cold can the t610 get before breaking?
Bookmark topic
Hi,
I have had my T28 and T68 on me while skiing in a temp of around -10C and had no problems. It was in a padded pocket though more because I was worried about damage if I fell rather worry about the cold. Never tried it at lower temps, mainly because I hate skiing when it is too cold (I find -10C my limit, although I have skied when it was -25C but that was no fun at all).
I have accidently left my PalmV in the car, with a temp of -10C and had no problems afterwards, though below that the PalmV was slow and the screen unreadable until it warmed up

Have my phone in a pocked with fleece lining in temperatures down to -31 celsius. It never froze or gave me trouble otherwise. it recieved and texts as normal. The camera worked. No probs. Just don't drop it in the snow and if you're gonna be skiing or boarding, don't put it anywhere where it might get damaged in case you fall! A pouch or case is not a bad idea..... if even to keep snow out if you do happen to drop it (gloves are such uneasy things)

I was checking the manual for t610 and the only thing it says about tempratures is "Dont leave your phone in extreme Cold or hot tempratures. Never over 60 degres C" The manual doesent say annything about how cold you can have your phone but i am shure you can have it werry cold before something wrong will happen.

My guess would be that the phone at worst would freeze, or run very slow, but then return to normal once it has warmed up. I can't see how the cold could cause perminate damage, unless the chips cracked due to being very cold and therefore brittle.

One problem I see with using the phone in very cold weather is that when you return to the lodge where it is warm and you pull out the phone (which would still be rather cold) a layer of condensation may form o the phone (if you wear glasses you'll know this). This may result in short-circuiting the phone.
So it's advised to keep the phone close to the heat of your body.
Another problem may be the static electricity one often experiences in cold climates, that too could zap your phone's circuitry.

I've used my P800 with + 40 C and it didn't melt. Probably with -15 C it won't freeze either.
Not that it matters, just felt like sayin' this.

this is taken from the white paper for T610:
------------
Operating Max: +50 ° C, Min -10 ° C
Storage Max: +85 ° C, Min -40 ° C
Charging Max: +45 ° C, Min +4 ° C
------------
These are the recommended temperatures where it's safe for use, but sure you can use it below -10 as well. You may experience it very slow when using it at low temperatures since the crystals in the display gets cold and moves slower.
