Those ones for whom the profiles is the most important thing should stick with T68

I have T68i and I use one profile that I named "Silence". And when I want to vibrating alert to work, I hold for a second "C"-key and select "turn on silent".

There's a lot of people in the camp in this thread.
And some people firmly in the camp...interesting.

Hmm I actually miss profiles from being a former nokia user (my last SE was 388)
Why?
In class: bip once + no vib
outdoor: ringtone + vib
at home or indoor: ringtone only
at some more important stuff, totaly silent or sometimes just vib..
Its not the end of the world that is missing but still it would have been a nice function to have.
I also very much dislike the battery charger for the P900

mine already broken so I am going to exchange it if its possible.

Each to it's own.
I had a Nokia 7650 and now have P900. Never really used the Profiles at all and don't think I will.

They have never been a big issue for me. If I want my phone louder I turn up the volume, if I want it quieter I turn the volume down and if I want my phone on silent, well I will press the 'c' key. Its hardly difficult or time consuming.
Perhaps SE left profiles out from the P800/900 becuase they thought no one used them.

Actually I have to agree with those who consider profiles a useful feature. I always have my phone on, because I need it so. But on weekends or when I am in a meeting I like the fact that I can simply change the profile and all the settings are already made. Not only the ringtone, but also the fact that only some calls are accepted whereas all others are diverted. I think it is a quite useful option and allows me some quite time at home, knowing that if someone really important wants he/she can reach me...
So, profiles are a really good thing for me. Also having some accessories trigging a profile (car headset) is a good thing. It is true, it doesn't cost much to press "c" when someone calls me and I don't want to, but on the other hand making this automatic is better.

I think profiles are very useful. There are many different environments in which I use my phone, having the option of ringer on or silent isn't enough, it needs to be louder in some places, quiter in others and non-existent in some. Being able to set incoming call lists is also a good feature, although I personally didn't use it often.
With the P900 I can't even change the ringer volume from the main screen. Clicking on the little speaker brings up the "Multimedia volume" control, not the ringer control. You have to click "settings" on the small pop up screen to get to the ringer volume control. But then what about if I want my phone just to beep once, or ascending ringtone? That's even more settings that need to be changed.
And if I change my ringing option I might want my SMS and other message tones to change (beep or a shorter/longer tone).
I'm trying to create a few small themes so that I can just click on the theme and the tone settings will all change with the them (although I'm not sure if I can control volume options via a theme). Maybe if somebody's got some themes already made for this they could post them. However, changing themes is still a hassle as there's no shortcut to get to the themes option and it takes a while for the phone to load the theme.
Profiles are useful, and it was a huge disappointment to find they weren't on the P900, especially as they were on my previous two SE phones (T610 and T68i - even the T28 phone had profiles IIRC). Nokia have had profiles for so long, since the 5110 I think.

I admit the lack of profiles didn't really put me off the P900 but it is a feature I would like to have, as others have mentioned there is a need for more than just off and normal - when I'm at work I would like a discrete ring and message tone so I can just hear it rather than complete silence. When I'm shopping at the weekend I prefer a loud profile, as I sometimes don't always hear the phone ringing with all the noise in the shops. And of course there are still cases when I would like the phone to be completely silent, and other times for it to be normal.

Regarding the Call Task, I think Iambic's Agendus for UIQ support the definition of Call Tasks. Have a look at this and see it addresses your issue. Look at ->
