Okay, I finally got my stuff organized and activated.

From my 10 minutes of browsing (not really scientifically valid) I have to first say that Cingular's GPRS is faster than T-Mobile's.

Then I would say that EDGE is a bit faster, not very much, but just a bit. However, this might have to do with the phone as well. I used a Nokia 3200 for the EDGE trial and a SE P900 for the regular GPRS trial.

I'll let you know more after I've done quite a bit of usage

What speed is the EGDE in your area working? It might not be up to full speed yet? This message was posted from a Nokia

Amagab,

I work for one of the carriers in the US now, so I know a bit about EDGE. I'd suggest using a PC card for test EDGE, as your nokia is likely only able to use two of the four channels available to it.

That is, since you have to be able to use your phone while EDGE is in use, there is one channel reserved as a "data channel" and another channel reserved for the base station control channel (to keep GSM timesync, sending paging requests etc).

So in short, to test EDGE you need to use an EDGE PC Card - like the SE GC82.
