there is nothing wrong with your phone all se phones (and maybe others) do it
the pic is one size then when its opened its another.
think of it like a compressed file on your pc it takes up a small amount of space then when you uncompress it using winzip it gets big (this isnt tech correct just using it as an example)
read what people are telling you there is a common theme in all the answers you have been given
and that is its the same for all who own se phones

ringtones are static pics and themes arent they have to be opened.
the difference are very small.a 40kb might expand to about 50-60kb
a pic the same
if you have a pc or mac just back stuff up on that and just keep the bare essentials on the phone.i have about 1700kb free and just inter change themes etc when ever i get sick of the ones on my phone

Just understand it, that is perffectly normal. Btw gif animations can take up a lot of memory because all frames are extracted to raw version.
