It's not about cost. It's about making different products for different market segments. If there was no difference between let's say Z600 and Z200.. why would anyone pay more for the Z600.
Not everyone wants a camera, not everyone cares about mms.. then the Z200 might be perfect for them

@sony_eric, no it wouldn't hurt anyone to have a feature in a phone which they don't use, personaly I think wap is a awful idea and I never use it but as you say it doesn't hurt me by having the feature in my T610 BUT the point I'm making about the z200 is its a low end phone, if people don't want mms why should they have to pay for it?

That is what market segmentation is all about. there are literally millions of ppl out there that don't give 2 sh*ts about MMS or do not even know it exists. they too do have phones though but they can never understand why anybody would pay 100 GBP more for a phone just to use emeil on it, since you also have a PC/laptop with emeial... etc etc.
You won't find any of those ppl on this forum, but they are out there and they (amongst others) are the targeted customer for Z200.... where you and me probably are not.

Whilst the z200 may seem rubbish to someone who has a T610 etc I don't think we should try and turn the z200 into a z600 otherwise it will just loose SE customers because their will be no lower end range of phones for people who don't care about all the tech stuff.

It's a total cop out at that price. There's a huge list of better phones out there at a much lower price. Can't be justified in my mind. Not even the segmentation justifies it.

Exactly the persons that buy the Z200 does it for one reason... it's looks.. not the features. If you want features there are lot's of other good phones with more features at that price. But none that look as good as the Z200.
Another thing to keep in mind is that it competes with the phones in Nokias 3xxx series.... and they look very dull compared to the Z200. The Z200 really stands out.
