Yeah, the NGage does have a co-processor for handling 3d graphics but as mentioned, it should be possible to emulate it in software.

It's a question of whether the P900's hardware is powerfull enough to run such an emulator smoothly.

well according to the official site "The P900 is geared up with two powerful processors". So processor power shouldnt be a problem.

OMG hahahah wat a terd..how can any1 make such mistake? Nokia P900 thats a big insult if u ask me.

A "terd" huh ? Well thanks!

I can see why you were refering to me as "turd" now! I see I typed "Nokai P900"!! Appolgies for that, it was genuine mistype! I have had a Nokia for such a long time guess Im just used to typing it!

It is possible to download the software from an NGage cartridge and they are simply Java games, encapsulated within a JAR file. As the P900 has Java support I wondered on the possibility to run these games. Java is one of the most universal programming languages around and can usually be easily ported from one OS to another (That was the idea when the language was created). There is the possibility that the games contain code to make use of the specific hardware in the NGage, but my guess is that when the games were written they were written to be as universal as possible to allow for future phones. Therefore the possibilty still exists to create a loader application for these games, which would also have some controls built in, i.e. display a keypad on screen.

As the games are Java based it would also be possible to reverse engineer them to adjust any source code specifically for the P900.

As a Software Engineer I certainly will be looking into the posibilty of porting these games to the P900 platform, am and fairly confident that the majority of them dont require any more processing power than the P900 has available.

If anyone has anything constructive to say on the possibility I certainly would be open to suggestions.

Regards

the "turd"!

The p900 second processor is most probably locked for phone operations by the operating system. I am sure the ore advanced games would be written in c and compiled to native code. And would be certain that if they where written in java the n gage would have specific hardware libraries for the machine. If it is possible which it is only the simple 2d games would run any where smooth. As i said it would be interesting to see an emulator up and running. And coders out there fancy having a go. ummm... are there actually any n-gage games worth having at the moment, to make this worthwhile...?

A nice little zx spectrum emulator would be much nicer, remind me of the days when 48k of memory was enough (!)... used to have one on my series 5, so it must be possible, if someone would only give it a go, i would love to play bomb jack et al on my p900...

(just an afterthough, make sure its flip closed...able, would be much better, the screen isn't made any smaller than the average nokia/sagem/samsung etc. so no harm!)

I'm sure its possible to do that, if you work on it. I use a Nokia 6600 and from the Nokia forums I see there are programs to run ngage games on a 6600, altho i havent personally tried it.

And the P900 hardware is way more powerful than the 6600 so an emulator is quite a realistic option

I think not only 6600, Siemens SX1 can play hacked Ngage games too.

Cheers
