Guys,

never claimed the P900 would have the facility to EDIT Office docs, just to view them. It SHOULD have been incorporated, no doubt, but to be fair, it is not true to say that the original spec contained that feature 'cos it didn't.
Still, it's extremely irritating that good apps are expensive and so many require AppForge!

I disagree. The early SE press releases said the P900 could view and edit both Word and Excel files. These were even posted to the SE web site.

"Sony Ericsson announces full support in P900 for secure e-mail, remote synchronization and access to office functions
20-10-2003
Sony Ericsson today announced the P900 smartphone. Based on the open Symbian platform, it is a high-quality phone, but also provides full PDA/organizer functions as well as a good gaming experience. Building on the successful P800, the P900 features significant upgrades such as video recording capability, 65K colour touch screen, and increased memory. With the P900, it is possible to view and edit Word and Excel files, which can easily be saved on a Memory Stick Duo and transferred to a PC. "

I wonder what happened? Would Microsoft have had to have any direct dealings with this integration?
Either way, I hope this functionality is still on the cards for future

smartphones...
