A dongle is an external "locking device" for software (such as quark express mentioned above, or those Div and Terminator software for SE phones).
Then people use the word dongle for Bluetooth adapters, to indicate that it's a small device that attaches to the PC, I guess.

Whereas Im pretty sure I wont get charged if I use a Bluetooth adapter, am i right?
