I stuck a (expired) Cingular SIM card into the phone, but it said "No Access", then I stuck a (unactivated) SIM card into the phone, and it said "Inactive SIM". Why did it say two different things?
I can't help but wondering... WHY does it surprise you that an unactivated SIM comes up as 'inactive' (doh!)
and WHY does it surprise you that an expired SIM won't allow you access anymore??
And finally..... why didn't you just do your little field test with a (any!!)
active SIM in the first place? Surely you have a friend/brother/neighbour willing to lend you their SIM for a minute or 2??

The answer is in the question!the expired sim is expired and so is removed from the list of active\\provisioned numbers and so has no access!the inactive sim is inactive and will therefore give no info to the phone and the phone rightly says its invalid as it can't get any valid info from it!ya phone is unlocked-you've just used duff sim's:try using an active one and you'll see!true

Geez, the whole question has been answered, so you guys should just shove off!
By the way, no, I don't happen to have anyone in the neighborhood with a different SIM card. Besides, I didn't know that there was a difference between an expired SIM card and an unactivated SIM card. It's people like you who turn other people, just looking for a simple answer, away from forums.
