Got mine from Ebuyer, their own branded one, and it was less than a tenner...
It is USB 2.0, but of course backwards compatible with USB 1
Its a 7 in 1 card reader writer, and is about the size of a packet of cards, though around half the thickness...
Perhaps a little cheaply made, but durable enough for most people...
I now use it instead of floppy disks.. using my old 64mb CF card, long with my old 32mb duo in memory stick adaptor, along with a very old 32mb SM card, and my cameras 128MB SD card, when the camera ain't using it... It is useful in this sens since it has recycled, indeed reincarnated, older, somewhat smaller capacity memory cards which I now have little use for...With it's 4 slots, I suppose you could store huge amounts in this way, in the multiple of gigabytes, since CF cards have reached and surpassed this already... SD/MMC cards are there too, whilst Smartmedia are just plain cheap as chips...
It is worth getting a multiple card reader if you have, or are thinking of having other devices which use memory cards, being most things these days... I find that digital camera transfer rates are improving, but even my lovely new Kodak, with its 4 megapixel images can result in much time spent transferring 128mb worth of images through its accompanying lead...
Thus, the card reader/writer which supports many formats will serve its purpose now and in the future I suppose... use it with your phone, your digicam, your dedicated mp3 player, just to transfer files generally, for your dedicated PDAs... and probably more...
Just one note, if you us Fuji's XD card format for a digicam, or one you may eventually get, then a lot of the current multiple card readers do not support it... though this is gradually changing, and support is improving... similarly, ensure that MSPros are supported in order to further future proof your investment...
