Hi,

Came across this when trying to get an alert over SMS when the webcam detects a movement in the picture. You can use this to send an sms via email to the phone:

"your mobile number"@esms.nu

It works if I send an email from the mail client (outlook) but for some reason not from the mail program in the webcam sw. I do get an email alert to my email accout if I enter that into the webcam sw. I will keep working on this.

Cheers!

Mission accomplished...

I did succeed to get an SMS alert when motion detection was activated in my webcam sw. However there is a limited number of SMS you can send using the:

“yournumber”@esms.nu

So now I need to start looking for a more permanent solution (free of charge).

Would appreciate any comments from you guys on possible use of this application. I would like to try and get the pictures from the traffic web cams adapted to the format of the T68i. Would make it possible to check the traffic at alternative routs as I sit in my car. Must be thousands of other possibilities, like to hear your suggestions.

Cheers!

Have you tried ww.uboot.com?

Not sure if it works in Sweden, but it works in the UK. All you have to do is set up an account, you will then get an e-mail address which if someone sends you an e-mail to, it will go to your mobile.

Hope this helps.

Great work wapman! I wanted to do this too, but did not find some spare time yet... If you send a SMS, make sure you also include your wapsite's address in there, so you can directly click on the URL when you open the SMS (T68i supports this "active-link" feature).

Of course, MMS should be even better: let the webcam make a picture and send it as MMS right away...

To what resolution can you save the webcam-picture? 101x80 ?

Hi and thanx mms,

It does not realy matter wish resolution you set the jpg to be you can scale the picture up or down before you send it to the ftp site. I read in the T68i white paper that the phone will automaticly scale down a larger jpg to fit the screen (not completly sure about this). You must remember that the file needs to be less than 3k to be able to upload over wap. Would be interesting to see if you could send an email containing a MMS when the motion detection is activated. May be possible.

Cheers!

PS Today I have my rats cage in front of the webcam (white rat if you see it) DS

cool, are you using it? its pretty spartan now though.

oh, i know some guys doing it as a hobby project thing.

I'm just waiting for them to finish up a real address book and unified messaging into the site, the site will be a lot more useful with those features...
