well I thought I should try this out but if I download and install via the PC I get a message saying "your phone has been disconnected please reconnect and try again" although I can sync and backup perfectly fine.

So I tried to download it direct to the phone and got the message saying that no viewer could be found and would I like to save the .SIS file which I did. I then used filemanager to locate it and click it to install and again it said no viewer found.
It also doesn't appear in Application - Install

I tried both methods 3 times with same result

Has anyone got an idea about this? I would like to try it.

edit: I have successfully installed 2 other things frmo pc and 1 directly on phone since I wrote this reply so very puzzling

I've downloaded it and installed it, but it cannot find the server to register a new person!

I'm on O2 and using a Online SIM via GPRS - Any Ideas?

@blount

I connected via my PC's internet connection (using the USB cradle). Connecting isn't a problem, and I could initially scribble some.

But the last 5 times I tried to switch between users (ie between your nick and someone else's), my phone restarted itself. There's nothing else running in the b/ground.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is this something that maybe you have to look into - it seems to be eating up quite a bit of memory.

masseur: which web browser are you using? Here we tend to have more luck with the built-in P800/P900 browser than with Opera when installing .sis files, but I've managed to make it work with both. Clicking the "download" link from the bottom of the download page on http://proto.orange.net/scribble on your handset browser should launch the app installer.

badbaby: the server is scribble.orange.us -- if the default server field is empty at login, just type that into the field and you should be good to go.

mwright: We're looking into supporting other handsets, but haven't made any announcements yet. We're hoping it will run more-or-less as-is on other Symbian UIQ handsets, but have yet to test on any.

Thanks everyone for trying it out!

Dang, I'm still having the same problem!

I've used all sorts of connections...GPRS...internet via cradle...etc etc...

It was working earlier...but at the moment each time I connect there are 3 people online at the same time...with a couple of replied waiting for me...but I can't get beyond there, it keeps hanging my phone or it restarts due to lack of mem...I wonder why!

Edit : @blount

Sorry to have to say this, but I need some help over here.

I thought of uninstalling the application and reinstalling it since I seem to have so much problems with memory when it comes to this app (although I don't know why! SMan says there's plenty).

But, when I tried to uninstall it, I get the message that there's insufficient memory to install the program (hrmm??? I picked 'Uninstall').

Without having to uninstall other s/ware in the hope that it will create more memory available, what can I do?

2nd edit : Did it now, had to uninstall advanced call manager and then uninstall scribble...hrmm

masseur: I just tweaked our web server to properly (I hope!) identify the MIME type of the scribble.sis file as an installer... Opera should work now. If anyone trys it please let me know if it isn't working!

buluayam: We haven't seen this problem before. Is your handset low on storage? OrangeScribble needs some local cache space to hold the ink history. We have coded it to handle low-storage, but there might be problems. Is it just the application quitting, or does your phone reset? Also, if you could let us know which handset and firmware rev your're running that will help.

If anyone else sees this problem please mention it on the board!

-- Doh! We need to fix the rewrite on the web server to allow Opera...this will take a few hours to get word through. I'll ping the board when the change goes in.

@blount

Well, the phone resets.

I'm using a P900 and a firmware version
Phone : R3A024
Organiser : R1A05
CDA R2B01

Not sure which one to quote:)

p.s. Oh by the way, I have around 4MB of storage internally and 30MB of storage externally available...

p.p.s. I'll try reinstalling scribble again now and see what happens
